Boca Raton Parks and Recreation
Matteis Park and Fields named after my Grandfather "Sal Matteis" whom moved our family to Boca Raton from the Northeast in 1957 after serving in the US Marine's in WW II. Sal also served as a Fireman and later Fire Marshall for the City of Boca Raton - Palm Beach Fire Department and creator of the Southeast Umpire and Referee's association for all the local sports league's and team's to be able to play from the Boca Jets, Delray Rocks, Boca High and many others including FAU. Sal also went onto open Sal's Sport Shop's many times gifting local Underprivileged children whom he would give gloves, balls, shoes and sports gear or whatever they could not afford so they could play in Boca Raton and Delray Beach along with my Grandmother Angela aka "Ms. Sal" Matteis, my Uncle Sal "Skip" Matteis and my Father Vincent Matteis contributed decades of donations and dedication to developing the City of Boca Raton's parks, sports, league's, sports teams, sports officiating, play grounds, city parades and growth of Boca Raton's Parks and Recreation today.
